Many of our patients have different recommendations to enhance their care at our office. The following exercise is used to help aid in the upper back curve correction and provide relief for muscle tension and tightness.
This brief video demonstrates three different positions in which to hold your hands while performing this type of traction, some people find it easier to perform one method versus another.
The three positions noted are: Hands at the waist, hands resting on the chest, and hands held above the head.
Newcomers to thoracic traction should begin with 5 repetitions for a 15 second hold. If you are a more seasoned veteran, then performing more repetitions with a longer hold is appropriate.
If you have been given specific instructions by the Doctor, follows those directions.
If you have not been specifically directed to perform this exercise then please do not perform until a full chiropractic evaluation can be administered.
Next time you're in the office ask one of the Doctors if some type of traction may benefit you.
